Please, God, let me sleep!
Of course, I know
no dream can last forever.
That's all it was,
a dream,
but damn did they feel real.
The touches, the kisses,
the near misses.
I know, I felt it all.
Time to wake up now,
I hear my alarm calling me
back to numb reality.
I don't want to go.
I've tried to hold on
too long. It fades
as dreams are wont to do.
I hold fast, panicked,
but it's already over.
